Welcome to the Elephant Eaters' web site.

Not that we really eat elephants you understand.  Its just a metaphor.

The elephant eater is a specially designed machine which assists with the devouring of those complex, elephantine, expensive projects which all too often seem to fail.  The elephant eater in question is known as Brownfield Re-engineering.

This site will give you a brief insight into Brownfield Re-engineering.  Brownfield comprises a new set of principles, method, approach and set of tools which can help you deliver incremental change into hugely complex environments.  For the latest information, please see our blog .

About Brownfield

Eating the It Elephant: Moving from Greenfield Development to Brownfield documents the Brownfield development approach. Brownfield has been worked on over the last three years by a team of hugely experienced architects, analysts and specialists. It is the result of a recognition that virtually all large enterprises have complex intertwined systems and businesses (brownfield sites) that are difficult and expensive to re-engineer.

Conventional methods of creating abstract views in such environments and then working down to the detail can set the wrong expectations and provide visions of apparent simplicity when the reality is, in fact, genuinely complex.  Over half of the really big IT projects fail.  Brownfield Re-engineering is designed to stop this happening.
